Isn’t Arrive Together just meditation? Yes and no. Yes — but here’s my bet: it’s not the meditation you and I have failed at before.

Joseph Campbell understood that the eternal truths don’t change but each new generation must re-clothe them in their own language. I designed this program because the meditation instructions we’ve inherited were built for more naturally peaceful minds than ours. In this modern era, we’ve intentionally trained people to have extremely powerful minds (yes, even the least intelligent people you know today have extremely powerful minds by comparison to previous eras).

From birth we’ve been educated to become intellectual Formula One race cars. But an F1’s tires and brakes only work once they’re hot — and they only get hot at high speeds… If an F1 drives the speed limit on a quiet residential street, the tire grip and the brakes fail! This brilliant machine built for the track simply can’t function (not to mention it’s illegal). We’ve trained our minds the same way: to (over) prioritize speed/stress.

I don’t think we can do the heavy lifting of 30 or 60 minute meditations without the fundamentals to support it. And the fundamental almost nobody addresses is the transition in and out of the meditative state.

Meditation can happen instantly — but most of us take a while to get there. The usual fix is to make the practice longer but that’s not always realistic. I think we need to train our meditative agility. Like a warm-up before exercise, or a cool-down after. Instead of training for duration, I want to train the seams — the on-ramp and the off-ramp. I’ll give you examples and guidance, but I’m agnostic about what those ramps look like for you. This is the most subjective practice there is, so it must be tailored to the individual.

And think about it: if you only train for long distance, what happens when you need to sprint? Most of our lives move so fast we might only have five minutes to spare. How many times have you found a small pocket of time and thought, “this is too small, it’s not worth it”? How many of us have walked past a penny on the ground — it’s just a penny? (We do the same thing with five spare minutes, every single day.)

Arrive Together is proudly designed to be the penny of meditation practices.

It’s built for portability, for ease, for the impossibility of failing. I want you to be able to do this whenever you want, wherever you are, in whatever circumstances — not just when you have the quiet room, the perfect conditions, and two free hours. Over time, I want us to develop the ability to find the eye of the storm at any point. I’m hoping you’ll find that you don’t need life to slow down when you can choose to slow down.

The pilot runs June 7–21 — 5 minutes per session, 3 sessions per week, free, no experience required.
